Welcome to the Revert founder's blog! Today, I want to take you on a journey and share with you the story of how Revert was founded and why we are dedicated to sustainable apparel manufacturing. So, grab a cup of coffee and let's dive in!

From an early age, I had a strong connection to the textile industry. I can vividly remember being just eight years old, visiting my father's spinning mill, and playing around with my brother amidst the machines and cotton bales. As I grew older, my passion for textiles flourished, leading me to pursue a career in this field.

After college, I landed my first job, which I enjoyed tremendously. It was in the R&D department, where I had the opportunity to develop innovative yarn products that offered wearable comfort. Inspired by this experience, I decided to take a leap and establish my own sock manufacturing mill, driven by the desire to create the highest quality socks using premium raw materials like pima cotton and alpaca fibers.

While we achieved great success in producing top-notch goods for renowned US brands and forged lifelong friendships along the way, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing in the industry – a genuine concern for the environment. This realization fueled my determination to establish Revert.

To make a real impact, we started by measuring our factory's carbon footprint, scrutinizing our processes, and evaluating our raw materials. We made it our mission for Revert to become the highest quality and most sustainable sock brand in the world.

From the very beginning, we designed our brand with sustainability in mind. We carefully selected high-quality, sustainable raw materials such as organic Pima cotton. Additionally, we embraced a groundbreaking development – biodegradable stretch nylon. This innovative material provides comfort to our socks while biodegrading in a landfill within just five years, eliminating the long-lasting impact of microplastics. But it didn't stop there.

We turned our attention to packaging, opting for deisgning a minimalist recycled paper stock for the sock bands and biodegradable plastic mailers for shipping. We also focused on our manufacturing processes, making significant changes to reduce our environmental impact. We switched to cold water washing to preshrink our socks with biodegradable soaps and are now in the process of transitioning from diesel to natural gas for our boilers, which generate steam for steaming our socks.

We left no stone unturned in our quest to minimize our carbon footprint. Even the electricity we use in the factory was scrutinized. Currently sourced from a combination of gas, diesel, and hydropower, we have plans in place to transition to 100% sustainable run-of-the-river hydroelectric power by 2025. Additionally, we are exploring ways to reduce the carbon footprint of our workers' commute by encouraging alternatives to diesel-powered public transport.

But as dedicated as we were to reducing and offsetting our own products' environmental impact, we felt the need to go further. We realized that as consumers, our individual carbon footprints are significant. This sparked a moment of clarity for us.

Located in Peru, where the Amazon rainforest originates, we understood the importance of nature-based solutions. Hence, for every pair of socks sold, we have committed to planting a native tree in the Amazon rainforest. We will oversee their growth until they become strong, healthy trees. During two decades, as the trees grow and sequester carbon as they form their trunk, each tree will capture close to one metric ton of carbon from the atmosphere. This reforestation initiative has become the heart of our mission.

As we continue on our journey of quality and sustainability, we promise to share our stories, experiences, successes, and even our challenges with you. Transparency is vital to us, as we believe that the fight against climate change requires bold efforts rather than greenwashing from brands.

Welcome to Revert, a radically sustainable brand. Together, let's make a positive impact on our planet and forge a better future. Stay tuned for more updates and inspiring stories!
